What is 0600 military time?

If you've ever had to attend a meeting or activity with someone in the military, you've likely experienced 0600 military time. Military time, also known as 24-hour clock time, is a way of expressing a specific hour of the day without using the traditional 12-hour notation. While it may be confusing at first glance, military time is actually quite simple to understand.

In military time, each hour of the day is numbered from 00 (which corresponds to 12:00 AM) to 23 (which corresponds to 11:00 PM). To convert from 12-hour clock time into military time, simply add "1200" to all hours before noon (AM) and "2400" to all hours after noon (PM). For example, 4:00 PM would become 1600 in military time while 9:15 AM would become 0915. 0600 is therefore 6:00 AM in standard notation.

The use of military time has several unique advantages. One advantage is that it eliminates any confusion regarding before or after noon as this is indicated in each hour value (1200 for AM and 2400 for PM). It also eliminates any confusion regarding the use of capital letters for morning vs lowercase for afternoon since all hours are denoted numerically in military time. Finally, it allows people from across different countries and languages to understand times without confusion since it follows a similar format everywhere.
